Jamaal Lee Williams (born January 6th, 1992), known professionally as J-Willz, is an American rapper, songwriter & Graphic Designer. After releasing his first mixtape “Self Isolation” in 2009, J-Willz built a large fanbase across the DMV (D.C, Maryland, Virgina) / East Coast from selling his Mixtapes online & hand to hand. While also releasing quality music videos & cover / freestyle videos on YouTube & Facebook (over 400,000 views) & releasing a number of 6 mix tapes & 2 independent Albums. Most notably, Raw Gold: which exposed Willz knack for catchy wordplay, Melodies & witty verses.
Willz has been on local news a number of times for his music & performances in the city. J-Willz started to gain national noteriety in 2015 after a post on the shaderoom’s instagram page, peforming a jingle he created for the shaderoom. In the same year J-Willz soundcloud page reached over 3 milllion plays.
Born in Atlanta, Ga, Raised in Charlottesville,VA, Willz moved to Atlanta at 26, to further his music career. Within 4 months of being in Atlanta, J-Willz landed a internship at Patchwerk Recording Studios on the marketing team as a Graphic Desiner. This position eventualy placed Willz in the same studio sessions as Gucci Mane, Monica, Lil Baby, T-Pain, Rick Ross & more. Working & Learning directly from the greats, he applies the knowledge to his own music.
As a Graphic Designer, J-Willz is best known for his creative direction on “Medicine” by Queen Naija, “Don’t Say” by Dayna Madison, Far From Perfect by Chris Sails & Out Of Orbit by Money Man Etc.
