Cardi B Responds After Latto Confirms She Dissed Her on New Album

The rift between Cardi B and Latto appears to have grown from what both artists now describe, in different ways, as a deeply personal misunderstanding. What may have once remained a private disagreement returned to public view with the release of Latto’s album Big Mama. There, she addresses a fallout that had lingered for years. The renewed attention traces back to leaked audio in which Cardi criticized several people during a conversation largely centered on Ice Spice. Although Latto was not the primary subject of that exchange, she ultimately became part of it. As a result, the relationship between the two artists never fully recovered.

During a recent interview, Latto confirmed that the album’s references were directed at Cardi. She said the situation felt particularly painful because it unfolded during a vulnerable period in her life. At the time, she was pregnant and balancing both personal and professional demands. For Latto, the issue was not only what was said but who she believed it came from.

“I rap about what was going on in my life at the moment…. I was at an early stage of my pregnancy and I rushed to the studio to do this verse for her first week sales, whatever… for ‘Errtime (Remix).’ Literally like two days later, I’m seeing all over the internet I’m being called p***y,” she said. “I’m pregnant, emotions high… And it was someone I deadass looked at as a friend. I understand this industry shit first, too, but we was on a texting basis, so I feel like, yeah, you tweeted to the world but we got each other’s number.”

Latto said Cardi reached out roughly two months after the controversy erupted. By then, however, she felt there was little left to discuss and chose not to respond. According to Latto, the two have not spoken since.

Cardi Shares Her Side and Addresses the Fallout

Cardi later offered her own account in a lengthy public statement. Furthermore, she acknowledged Latto’s frustration and explained that she had made several attempts to reconnect. She said she opted to apologize publicly because the original conflict had unfolded in public view. At the heart of her message was an effort to explain, rather than excuse, what happened.

“I truly understand how you feel,” she wrote. “On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm.. There’s a difference in what I said vs what I meant. What I could have said was you was too forgiving and gave too much mercy in that situation.. But it was a heated conversation and I let my mouth get the best of me.”

Cardi also noted that she was navigating her own pregnancy while dealing with the pressures surrounding her long-awaited sophomore album. “That’s not to excuse what I said but to let you know where I was in my head. I genuinely felt bad about what happened. In 2025 and 2026 I made multiple attempts to connect…I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility,” she added. “I always had love and respect for you ! I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us… I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album.”
