Odell Beckham Jr. Signs To New York Giants Following Five-Year Absence

The New York Giants are reuniting with a familiar face to bolster their receiving corps, announcing Monday the signing of veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. following a successful team workout. The move marks a homecoming for the 33-year-old playmaker, who began his professional career with the franchise more than a decade ago.

Beckham returns to the Giants after sitting out the entire 2025 NFL season, looking to prove he still has the explosive ability that once made him a cornerstone of the New York offense. Team officials confirmed the signing shortly after Beckham and three other veteran wideouts participated in drills at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

The Giants were forced to look for external help at the position after veteran Gunner Olszewski suffered a season-ending Achilles tear during practice last week. “Beckham’s return brings a veteran presence to the locker room,” the team shared via a social media announcement on Monday afternoon. The deal comes after NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo first indicated the two sides were nearing an agreement following the morning workout session. Beckham was originally selected by New York with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

During his first five years with the Giants, he became a global superstar, famously catching a one-handed touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys that is still considered one of the greatest receptions in NFL history. His initial tenure in New York was defined by elite production.

Beckham surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark in four of his five seasons with the club, earning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2014 and multiple Pro Bowl selections. His only season under that threshold occurred in 2017 when an ankle injury limited him to just four games. The relationship between the star receiver and the organization previously ended in 2019 when the Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns.

Since that blockbuster trade, Beckham has spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins, though injuries have hampered his production in recent years.
